The concept of wine delivered directly to your door was brought to fruition by wine.com.  It has acquired smaller companies while on its path towards growth.  However this has resulted in high cost of ownership as each company came with their own system of maintaining the business.  A flexible and future-safe infrastructure was needed to solve this problem. SOA showed the way.


Staples

Staples, is world’s largest office products company.  There was a business need to communicate with worldwide staff, ensure positive, consistent customer experience, send ass emails to employees, centralize product databases not centralized, and create a efficient reporting system.  SOA was used to develop Staples@Work enterprise portal providing unified access to reports, product & promotional information, self-serve HR tools, company news, helpdesk, and more.  The enterprise apps can be used as portlets.  Role-based access for effective security, optimal employee productivity is also made possible.
